Our latest art project

Today on the way home from picking Nikki up from school she told me about having lunch at school for the first time and about an art project they did at school today. As soon as we got home she asked for some paper and glue to show me what they did. Then we decided to do our own little projects at home.

Nikki already knew how to do it so the only help she needed was cutting out her paper.

And there they are all finished. Garrett made a flower. Nikki made the butterfly and her friend made the ladybug. Her friend decided to give the ladybug to her mom for her birthday since it is tomorrow. So she left it here until then so it would be a surprise.

Here's an up close look. We started out by cutting out the main shape of the butterfly, ladybug, and flower on construction paper. Then I cut out little pieces of tissue paper (the kind you put in gift bags). You take the end of a pencil where the eraser is and set it in the middle of one piece of tissue paper. Then wrap the paper up onto the pencil. Dab the end into some white glue and then stick it on the paper where you want it. And keep going until you put as much on as you want. It was a lot of fun to do with the kids. And thanks to Nikki for telling me all about this art project so that we could do it at home.

Picnic Dinner

The weather was so nice yesterday that I finally rode the bike again to pick up Nikki from school. Then we were pretty much outside the whole evening. Nikki begged me to have a picnic so that's just what we did. We ate grilled ham & cheese sandwiches and sliced apples (except for Jack, who just had a slice of bread, meat, and an apple which he hardly ate any of). After our picnic dinner we had some fun on the trampoline and the swings. During all the fun Jack decided to say a new word, "Dikki" which would obviously be "Nikki". She would run off to play and he'd start calling her name because that's what I do. So cute! We all had a great time together!

My silly kids!

Jack is going to be our outside baby. I can't believe he already likes to crawl around in the grass and on the cement. And he was barefoot too! He loves being outside, as do I!

I just loved this shot of him. Got the boogers and the drool coming down!

Gymnastics

Waiting as her teacher writes things down. The teacher was evaluating each girl tonight to see what level they are at. She told me that Nikki is right where she needs to be. This was her 2nd time going to gymnastics. Last week I was out of commission with getting my wisdom teeth out and had my mother in law take her and Garrett to their first class.

The funny thing is there is a girl in her gymnastics class that was on her soccer team and they were in the same Kindergarten class for a little while before they added a new class. I also found out this girl lives on the street behind us. Talk about small world! And this girl started gymnastics on the same day Nikki did. Crazy!

He did very good following his teacher and he was the only one for half of the class time. Then one other girl came late and he got to do everything again, but he didn't mind. He loved it!

Bees and Beans

These are the 2 afternoon kindergarten classes getting ready for their "Bee" concert yesterday.

Nikki is so excited about planting and growing things that she begged me to plant a seed. Then she suggested a bean. So we planted a pinto bean. I didn't really think it would grow but here's what it looks like after about 2 weeks. I can't remember exactly when we planted it. We've been putting it in the bathroom window so that it gets plenty of sunshine. Now I told her we need to plant something that we actually want to put in our yard. This was just an experiment.
