We're near the finish...I can feel it!
It's time for another update on our project and to see just how close we are to being finished!
A week ago Saturday Curtis and our nephews had fun tearing up the kitchen, laundry room, and some carpet. Here's one of them taking off the baseboard trim to get ready for new flooring.
We had to move out all of the appliances and look what was discovered under our stove, yuck! Apparently, Curtis confessed that a year ago he had spilled some chocolate syrup or something down the side of the stove and never told me about it. No wonder we kept getting ants in our kitchen! So glad it's cleaned up now.
Here's the boys beginning to tear up the old floor.
I thought you might want to see what it looks like underneath all that vinyl. We had to walk around on sticky floors for a few days.
Our nephew Andrew is standing in the spot where they just cut out some old carpet. Look at the mess behind him in our kitchen.
Curtis and his dad putting the new trim and baseboard up on Monday.
The floor guys came on Tuesday to put our new floors in. They did most of the prep on Tues and then finished the rest on Wed. They had to put this dark cement mud stuff on before putting the new floor on. You can see they are almost done with the kitchen.
We had to move our refrigerator into our living room for a few days. Needless to say our house was really a mess last week, as if I wasn't getting sick of messes already.
And Friday the carpet guys came. The kids and I were so excited!! The kids went in there and helped pick up scraps of carpet as the worker cut each piece off. They had lots of fun helping.
And finally here's what the front living room looks like now. What am I going to do with all that space?? :) Let me know if you have ideas on how to arrange that room. Right now we don't have the money to buy new furniture. For now I at least need to clean that carpet.
And here's the dining room. I love all the space in here and I love the new floors more every day!
Here's the area that used to be carpet that leads from the garage to the dining room.
And of course, the kitchen. Those who have seen the floors already say that it looks like tile but it is linoleum. Makes me feel really good about that since we were originally trying to get tile but couldn't find any we liked in our price range. (We had found one but they didn't have enough of it)
Yesterday after Curtis finished up the trim and touch up paint on some of the walls we started moving into the family room. He was able to watch most of the BSU game by the time he got it all hooked up. Unfortunately, I did not watch very much because I was too busy trying to get the front room cleaned up. Not to mention we won't have AC in the addition until tomorrow.

Kitten adventures & Soccer!
I'm finding it hard to get on and blog lately even though I know I have stuff I want to blog about. I'm always so tired by the end of the day but today I have finally found some time again. Now, last week my kids discovered that we have a neighbor kitten and they just fell in love with it. I had to admit I fell in love with the kitten too. After playing with the kitten for awhile outside Nikki brought the cat inside and I let them keep her inside for a little while. But then we let her go home. As you can see they couldn't get enough of that kitty. I almost thought maybe I wanted to get a kitten now but then the 2nd day of playing with the kitten Nikki finally broke out again around her eyes. They became very itchy and red. So, it was fun for a little while but I know we can't get a cat now.
Last Saturday Nikki had her first soccer game and she had so much fun! Their jerseys are neon yellow and black so they nicknamed themselves the Bumblebees. They will be getting team pictures tomorrow. Her next game is this Saturday at 11:30am. Let me know if you want to go and I'll tell you where. So I've officially become a "soccer mom" and am loving it. It is so fun to watch her.

Getting close
Okay, I have finally made myself sit down at the computer again to update you on our addition. The tape and texture guys came and did their stuff. It took about a week. And we had to move the kids out of their bedroom for about 2 weeks. We moved them back in last night since their room was painted. Speaking of paint, we did some painting this weekend and finally were able to put our light fixtures in. Yay!
Our black wall fell down but before putting it back up we snapped a couple of shots of the taping in the dining room.
Taping in the family room
Now there is texture on the walls and the kids had to pose for me. Sometimes it's better to have someone in the picture. Makes it less boring.
And I couldn't let this go by without a picture. I actually get to do some work on the addition! It was fun painting with my mother in law and husband (and occasionally my nieces). Luckily I had my nieces and my sister here to help watch the kids so I didn't have to keep stopping to check on them.
That's right, Mrs. Prego going up and down and working hard. It felt good to be doing something constructive, especially while being pregnant.
There's Curtis and his mom painting in the kid's bedroom. It's so nice to have them back in their room again.
I was going around doing touch up painting when Nikki came in and wanted to help. So I let her do a few spots. Even though it wasn't much she had lots of fun doing it.
Ah ha! There's me working again putting the plate for the light switch back on. Unfortunately I didn't get any other pictures taken of our crew that came over to put light fixtures in today. The crew consisted of Curtis, my dad, my mom, my brother Colby and friend Seth. I was a little busy running around the house doing stuff and then the girls took off to look at flooring, which was Krista, my friend Monica, and myself. We did bring a few more samples home but I am getting sick of looking! I can only look at samples of tile and carpet for so long before I start to go bonkers!
